our blog has moved!
don’t worry…it is getting even better
…i finally downloaded the software…set up the server…yes, even wrote a little css…and it is up and running…stop by and check it out!
sous-chef
my children should be serving up some snazzy pretend food in their new red kitchen…it was a real monster to put together. i almost caved and called a friend for help a couple of times…while i did no actual carpentry work i don’t envy jesus his day job! thankfully it is all together (there were only 4 pieces left over…hope they were extras!) and the kids are LOVING it. i had blueberry pancakes with chocolate chip ice cream on top and bacon (of course) for breakfast this morning thanks to my budding chefs!

two, four
birthday par-tay! so we celebrated the big two and four this past week…i can hardly believe they are so grown up! it was difficult celebrating without daddy here, but we still had a great day! we watched disney’s “up” after pizza and cupcakes…very sweet movie. laila particularly like the dog that talks.

bike
it’s happened. ben has outgrown the (once oversized) little plastic bike…and is ready for the big boy bike with training wheels…i can’t believe that we are ready for that…so here is our ‘so long’ picture to the toddler bike. where is my ‘slow motion’ button for life???

tomato
our (second) first tomato! we had a first first…but while letting it turn orange the birds ate it…guess in this case the early bird gets the tomato
thought i would post some pics…joel requested we get the camera out more often during our daily activities so i am obeying
bon appetit! (hopefully!)

Thought I would post some photos of Ben and Laila’s last full day at the hotel with Joel. They had so much fun. Ben is really tackeling his “man of the house” role…He told me this morning that he was going to be SUCH a good helper that I wouldn’t even need Daddy’s help anymore! This morning after the heart-wrenching drop off at the airport Ben was sitting quietly in his carseat while I drove trying to keep my tears to myself. Finally he quietly asked me if I was okay. I said “No.” Ben replied as any three year old in all their wisdom should…”Okay, lets just take some deep breaths….breathe in (sound of breathing in) and breathe out (exaggerated exhale)…are you better mama?” I tried not to laugh…”No” I replied again. Ben thought for another minute and then said “Well if you need to cry maybe we should have some chocolate milk. That makes me feel better.” I couldn’t help myself at that point and was laughing through my tears. So we went and did what any smart mama would. We found a restaurant and had chocolate milk.
Hope you enjoy these photos.

PS…to watch the adventures of Ben’s “Monkey” and Laila’s “Giraffe” make sure to keep up with Joel’s deployment blog!

Lots of it…Joel is about to head to the Middle East for the next year…and has decided to blog his way through that time. You can keep up with him here.
carnival
We went to the southwest festival here in SV last weekend and the kids had a ball…Benjamin drove a motorcycle (“I am SOOO fast like Daddy!”), they drove turtles, cars, and even rode horses (“Haw-sees!”~Laila) So of course I had to post some pictures…I hope these brighten your day Mom

cottontail
thought i better post these before it was the fourth of july or christmas! while our focus at easter was the ressurection…my kids LOVE the song “here comes peter cottontail” and that is what laila was dancing to in her easter dress…

birthday!
it was miss savannah’s 4th birthday yesterday and we had a blast! in the words of benjamin…”i wish all of the days could be like this one!”

"ooooo, cass-alls!"-laila grace

savannah's big brother jeff...joel loves this shot because he looks like a leprechaun

it was difficult NOT to get these three together in a shot...

one of my favorite shots...savannah and her big sis rockin out in the bouncy castle

juice break! bouncing is hard work!
“Ka-Moo!”
Julie finding the perfect skipping rocks for Joel and Roger…& the perfect ‘kerplunk’ rocks for the kids.

Roger skipping rocks across the lake...literally.

Ben attempting to "skip" the rock like the big boys...

Shot of the week! Look at that determination!

I know she is mine, but isn't she beautiful?

"Swaashh!!" - translation..."splash!"

Joel making one of several trips out in the canoe...Ben is the lucky passenger this time.

Laila watching Daddy and Ben leave in the canoe...had we not restrained her she was ready to walk right out in that water after them! Fearless!

Sweet Savannah...she found a 'fishing pole' (a big stick) and was showing it off...

Laila...still trying to make a break for the lake

i still can't believe we caught this...she is so lost in the moment.

i loved this dress, it was like working with a cloud, although i am sure my model didn't think so, it was like 30 pounds!

this model was so beautiful, she just oozed sexiness, which is why i particularly loved this shot...she had such a sweet smile.

this was another great moment, i'm not sure what joel said, but it made her laugh, and turned out great...thanks girls, you were all so fun to work with!
